Pinot noir
Burton Bittman Pinot noirs are made from Dundee Hills, estate-grown grapes. Our Pinot noir has finesse, subtle flavors, and delicate character. Our Pinot noir winemaking process is all about limiting the variables and keeping things simple. Each vintage produces fresh and unique grapes. We want those variations to shine through.
These wines are the backbone of our portfolio and part of our family’s culture. Pinot noir puts the finishing touch on our family meals whether it’s a Tuesday evening or a special bottle for a special night. It’s not about stealing the show, it’s about complimenting the moment.
Gamay Noir
“True Gamay, known as Gamay Noir à Jus Blanc to distinguish it from a host of red-fleshed grapes often called Gamay Teinturier once grown to add to colour to red wines that were also called Gamay, has been grown in Burgundy at least from the 14th century when its supplanting of some Pinot Noir territory was regarded as scandalous by some.” - Jancis Robinson
Gamay noir is a cornerstone at Burton Bittman. We produce both a 100% Dundee Hills Gamay noir and (on occasion) a Passetoutgrains, which is a Gamay noir-focused blend inspired by a wine made in France’s Burgundy region.
Pinot blanc
One of the three Pinots grown in Oregon, Pinot blanc can be hard to find. Our Pinot blanc vines thrive in a cozy corner of the Tukwilla Vineyard, where they get plenty of sun, refreshing breezes, and zippy minerals from the soil.
Pinot blanc joined the Burton Bittman portfolio in 2019. Inspired by the winemaking of fellow woman-winemaker, Lisa Burner, of Burner Wines, a small portion of our Pinot blanc ages in French oak while the rest spends its time in stainless steel drums. The result is a dry, crisp white wine with texture.
